I’m obsessed…OBSESSED with cruising!  For me, cruising provides the perfect vacation setting.  You’ve got a floating hotel, beautiful destinations, people waiting on your every beck and call, delicious food, awesome entertainment, I mean, what else do you need?  After graduating from college in 2007, I decided I wanted to travel as much as possible, and it all started with a 7 day Southern Caribbean cruise from Puerto Rico in 2008.  I was officially hooked after my first cruise, and 5 years later, I’ve racked up 8 cruises on my list.

As a  foodie, I’ve always wondered how in the world the kitchens of these cruise liners create such amazing food in the middle of the ocean! I was lucky enough to tour the main galley of the Celebrity Constellation, and it was absolutely amazing!

About half of the 1,000 crew members on board work in some capacity in the food and beverage department, whether they’re chefs, cooks, waiters, runners or bartenders or sommeliers! That’s a lot of people worried about your food and beverage experience.   A large percentage of those worker hail from all over Asia, with a majority hailing from the Philippines.

Check out those delish looking croissants, and the edible bread basket!

Behind the chef were dozens of loaves of bread, proofing and waiting for the oven.

The kitchen is absolutely immaculate, not even a fingerprint to be found.  Here’s the hot food station.

Next, we stopped at the salad and sandwich station.  These chefs are absolute masters at what they do, creating works of edible art!

The last stop was the dessert station, where this lovely lady was creating fondant flowers for cakes.  Absolutely amazing!

We also got to peak at a separate kitchen, dedicated to a specialty restaurant onboard call the Blu Lounge.  You can watch the chefs prepare your meals through a one way mirror!

Some of my favorite dishes of the trip:

Scallop crudo with a yuzu vinaigarette

Passionfruit cheesecake!

Creme brulee, I had this literally every day on the cruise, it was to die for.

A tried and true classic, a tomatoes, mozzerella & basil stack with balsamic vinaigrette.

It was a fabulous experience visiting the kitchen of a cruiseliner, so if you ever get the chance, make sure you put that on your to do list! You won’t regret it!

    1. Hi Connie! I recently moved the blog and some posts went awry, so I suspect that’s what is going on. See if refreshing the page helps, if not, let me know and I’ll re-upload those pics. Thanks for your help!
